Careful of Images You Post on Social Media!

Navigating "Fair Use" of others' original works when it comes to Social Media can be difficult.

Navigating what you are allowed to post or repost, when in comes to respecting copyright is … difficult to navigate these days. Is this post copyright infringing because it embeds the link in the blog? It is a matter of analyzing if it falls under Fair Use … we are using it directly in commentary about the specific article, and thus it falls under Fair Use (we are not using the image or the text of the article and passing it off as our own or using it as a commercial or ad).

But then again we’ve all read stories of celebrities reposting images that a photographer took of them, and then getting in trouble because they did not have permission.

The slope is slippery, and often confusing. This is a great post, especially for those who can be considered a business, to check out.

PS Today’s featured AI generated image “Social Media” is brought to you by “still can’t do faces” but that is kind of a social commentary on how social media does destroy your brain and soul. So maybe a little more accurate in its inaccuracy as art? Oh wait. it’s generative AI, it doesn’t do that.
