OpenAI “accidentally” Deletes Incriminating Datasets

OpenAI "accidentally" deletes potentially incriminating data. Who would've thought?

In “I definitely believe it was a mistake, too” news, OpenAI’s lawsuit by news publishers took a turn as it was revealed engineers at OpenAI accidentally deleted dataset information that publisher attorneys were actively combing through. It kind of feels like the “happy accident” is like something one might do if one wanted to hinder opposition attorneys in finding information.

I mean, if we want to be real, everyone makes mistakes. Though if AGI is achieved and a “mistake” is made in the setting of guardrails against killing humans, there goes humanity. But don’t worry, OpenAI will have made its billions and billions by then so they’ll (maybe) be safe in their fallout bunkers.

PS Today’s generative AI “accidentally deleting” image brought to you by “all my binders have holes on their covers” and “yup, don’t forget that second screen on the back of every computer monitor”. Cheers to the future robot armies. May they be as shoddily built as current AI tools.
