In a really cool use case, a software company implemented a “phone home technology” that pinged its servers to note every time an unauthorized licensed software of theirs was used. They used this data to prove that one company was using high volumes of unauthorized software, essentially pirated, and went to court. They just received $321,208 in judgement.

This is a great example of embedding technology within your product to help fight piracy of it. Bravo!
