What the Drug Deal Video Game?

Two video games based on dealing drugs ... one claims the other stole the idea. But, you know, isn't that part of the game? #Schedule1 #videogames #DrugDealSimulator #copyright

So here’s one for the books: The makers of Drug Deal Simulator and Drug Deal Simulator 2 are suing the maker of Schedule 1, because both games have very similar concepts and user interfaces when they, you know, simulate you as the player being a drug dealer and, I guess, avoid law enforcement, sell drugs, and, I’m assuming, hurt people. I’m not sure what the eponymous law is related to video games, but it is likely similar to how the Jurassic Park scientists chose dinosaurs for their park: If someone can make something that will teach really poor judgement, it will be done.

Like comedians and jokes, the question of copyright infringement vs both companies having the same idea to make a game about breaking the law at the same time may be hard to prove. UI elements may be key to if there was blatant copying, but also there is the high probability that both game makers are copying a standard crated by a completed different game that just works. Well, for games that likely teach lying, cheating, and stealing … um, are you surprised on this outcome?

PS Gen AI art “Drug Deal Video Game Ad” brought to you by “Wow, throwback little bags and cash” and “at least the drug dealer is white and the Gen AI doesn’t show it’s completely racist (except it is bc it always defaults to white people)”.
