A lawsuit has been filed against Franco and Brie, as well as WME and the director of Together by those behind the 2023 film Better Half. Now these suits happen all the time, similar ideas and films are made. That said, this one has a bit more teeth to it … you see, when casting “Better Half” WME was sent the script and synopsis along with the offer of Franco and Brie to be the two stars of the film. But one could argue they passed on the project without reviewing it (off, but maybe it was “below their standards”), who knows. Bu, again, it doesn’t end there. The creators of “Better Half” note character, plot, and scene similarities … to the point that, I kid you not, straight from the lawsuit itself, “both works end in the same way, with the couple pulling out a vinyl record of the Spice Girls album—Spiceworld—in the scene where they accept their fate.” Ye-ah, that doesn’t sound like two of the same ideas at once. Some infringement claims don’t hold water but this one seems to have too much similarity for unique aspects to be created separately without prior knowledge of the other.
PS Gen AI image “create a fake movie poster of a film titled “Dave Franco and Alison Brie Together” ” brought to you by a decent fake “Together” poster, if you don’t mind a little aging and the movie being about absolutely nothing except two people looking at each other.
