I know someone who used a Wikimedia Commons image (free to use) and then received a copyright violation and a letter for settlement. THIS is an interesting article because it says the liability is on that PLATFORM that allows users to upload content and say they are free to use — not on the user who goes to the site solely to use the free content. Kinda common sense to us. But then again, not trusting a “fact” from ChatGPT is also common sense to us, and not to so so many out there.
