Another judge allowed the main copyright issue of authors against Meta’s LLM to move forward. It has become more and more clear that Meta knew they were using copyrighted materials and Zuckerberg was directly involved with the decision. OpenAI recently moved to rally Trump to protect them from infringement while equally claiming they did not infringe. Every Gen AI company infringed copyrighted content, they just refuse to admit it. The most common phrase at CES in January was “We trained on publicly available materials” … of course hidden in there is that “publicly available” means anything that is on the Internet, which we all know includes a majority of copyrighted materials. We shall see how this progresses.
